Warren Foot is a Solicitor with many years’ experience dealing with contentious matters, including commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

He has particular expertise in restraint and confiscation and is a founding member and former secretary of the Proceeds of Crime Lawyers’ Association. He has worked on substantial investigations within British Overseas Territories, including the Turks & Caicos Islands and the Cayman Islands. 

Through his experience as Chair and Trustee of the London Scottish Headquarters and Regimental Trusts, Warren has significant knowledge of trust and corporate governance and restructuring. 

Warren is a former managing partner of a City Law Firm and holds a Masters degree in Leadership and Change. He is a Freeman of the City of London, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Scriveners and sits on the Advisory Panel of the London Law Expo. He has a keen interest in Military history.

Experience

Anti-Money Laundering

Warren has advised corporates and lectured on the subject of Anti-Money laundering for many years, helping organisations avoid the pitfalls arising from the money laundering provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Asset Forfeiture & Proceeds of Crime

Warren has significant experience of dealing with the recovery of assets both in the UK and overseas.

He acted on many of the leading restraint and receivership cases both before and after the introduction of the 2002 Proceeds of Crime Act, including representing the trustee for Civil Recovery in the UK’s first ever Civil Recovery case.

Warren has represented corporates and individuals faced with proceedings to recover assets under POCA, including innocent third parties adversely affected by restraint orders.

He has acted for Attorneys General in British Overseas Territories, dealing with investigations and litigation ensuing from restraint and confiscation proceedings and has been involved in training internationally on the UK experience of restraint of assets, use of receivers, and mutual legal assistance requests.

Cyber Crime

Warren leads Fulcrum’s Cyber team, which advises on a range of issues from cyber frauds to data breaches.

Dispute Resolution

Warren has spent most of his career dealing with contentious matters for corporate clients and has experience of dealing with many different types of dispute in a range of forums, including through High Court proceedings, Arbitration and Mediation.

Warren’s work has included large scale debt recovery, the enforcement of third party security, the recovery of assets and money in insolvency proceedings, and of course the recovery of assets in Proceeds of Crime matters.

He has experience of obtaining steps to preserve assets, including High Court Freezing Orders and Search and Seizure Orders as well as Restraint and Property Freezing Orders under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
